From public servant to the catwalk: Innovators behind Fashfest | 666 ABC Canberra
Great story on SZN and friends, by Kate Corbett from 666 ABC Canberra:
Canberra may not be known as the fashion hub of Australia, but the design scene in the nation's capital is rapidly evolving. Fashfest will showcase some of the best innovations.
Just a few years ago, Suzan Dlouhy was a public servant in Canberra - and bored.
"Something just clicked one day and I realised I didn't actually like sitting at a desk in an air conditioned environment where I couldn't dictate the outcomes of my job," Suzan told 666 cross media reporter Kate Corbett.
"Somehow I accidently enrolled in a fashion design degree."
Suzan ended up quitting her public service job and threw herself into fashion full-time, creating fashion label SZN.
She's now preparing to be front and centre at Fashfest - Canberra's own fashion festival, which is in its second year in 2014.
